Clippers Fall In Overtime To Spurs

AUSTIN, TX—The Agua Caliente Clippers (4-4) fell 96-95 in overtime to the Austin Spurs (8-3) in Texas on Friday night. Despite overcoming an 11-point deficit in the fourth quarter, the Clippers slipped to .500 on the season.

After trailing by as many as 22 points, Tyrone Wallace hit a running lay-up to tie the game at 93 with 15 seconds on the clock and the Clippers held off the Spurs offense long enough to force what would be their first overtime period of the season. It wouldn’t be enough, however, as the Spurs Darrun Hilliard hit a three in the first minute of play in overtime. LaDontae Henton made two free throws to put the Clippers within one point, but a final shot attempt by Wallace was missed to seal the Spurs win.

Wallace had another dazzling offensive performance for the Clippers, leading the team with 25 points and nine assists. Henton added 18, including a 4-for-5 effort from the free throw line. JJ O’Brien and Marshall Plumlee contributed 13 and 12 points, respectively.

The Clippers travel to Oklahoma City to take on the OKC Blue tomorrow for a 5 p.m. PST tip-off on the second night of a back-to-back.
