Southaven, MS—The Agua Caliente Clippers used big nights from J.J. O’Brien and Ike Iroegbu to snap a two-game losing streak and beat the Memphis Hustle on the road ‪Friday night, 122-116. With the win, the Clippers take a 2-1 lead in the season series and are 18-20 overall.

The Clippers came out hot, putting up 36 points in the first quarter while connecting at a 60-percent clip from the field to take a nine-point lead into the second frame, but Memphis responded with 31 points of their own to trail by just three at the half. The teams swapped leads in the third quarter, with neither squad going up by more than six points.

Memphis took a one point lead into the final quarter, but Iroegbu and O’Brien were just getting started, as they combined for 22 points in the final frame. With just under 11 minutes to play, Michael Orris went 1-for-2 from the free throw line, and forced a steal to set up DeAndre Daniels for an and-one play to put the Clippers up by three. The teams traded buckets, but the Clippers maintained a slight advantage, leading by no more than three points down the stretch. Memphis was finally forced to send the Clippers to the line with forty seconds to play, where the Clippers were 9-for-11 to keep their lead.

O’Brien led the Clippers once again with 31 points, while Iroegbu finished with a career-high 29.  18 of Iroegbu’s points came in the second half, giving the Clippers the spark they needed to grab the win. LaDontae Henton added 16 points, while Dakarai Allen recorded a double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds. Tyler Roberson added eight points and 14 boards to lead all rebounders. Keith Steffeck matched his career-high 13 points and Daniels and Orris chipped in eight and six points, respectively, to round out the Clippers scoring. The Clippers committed only nine turnovers, while capitalizing on 15 from Memphis to run out for 17 fast break points.

The Clippers return home on Sunday, taking on the Northern Arizona Suns in ‪a 3 p.m. tip (PST). The Clippers currently lead the season series 2-1, but recently fell to the Suns on the road.
