LAKELAND, FL—The Agua Caliente Clippers used 42 percent shooting from deep to grab a win on the road Saturday night, beating the Lakeland Magic, 120-100. With the win, the Clippers move closer to .500 (17-18) and are 1-0 over the Magic.

After exchanging leads in the opening minutes of play, Dakarai Allen connected on a three-pointer to spark an 11-0 Clippers run that would help them take a nine-point lead into the second quarter. The Magic hit a three to open the second frame and cut the lead to six, but the Clippers responded with another run to extinguish the threat and take a 21-point advantage into the halftime break.

The Clippers controlled the tempo of the third quarter, going up by as many as 22 points, but the Magic refused to go away easily, going on an 8-0 run with just over two minutes to play to close in on the Clippers lead and pull within six points. Ike Iroegbu completed a three-point play to snap the run and the Magic were forced to send the Clippers to the free throw line, where the Clippers were a perfect 8-for-8 to keep their lead out of reach.

J.J. O’Brien and LaDontae Henton added 26 and 25 points, respectively, to lead the Clippers. O’Brien shot 62 percent from the field (10-of-16), while Henton was 43 percent from deep (3-for-7). Allen added 12 points in his first start for the Clippers and Ike Iroegbu neared a triple-double, going for 13 points, nine assists and seven rebounds. DeAndre Daniels led the Clippers bench with 16 points and Tyler Roberson scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds in his first game back after missing four outings due to a calf strain. The Clippers dominated down low as well, outscoring the Magic 60-32 in the paint.

The Clippers continue their road trip, heading to Delaware to take on the 87ers on Monday in a 3:30 p.m. tip (PST). Fans can stay up-to-date on team news by following the team on Twitter (@ACClippers) or visiting Full season membership, group, and single tickets for the 2017-18 Agua Caliente Clippers season are on sale now.
