Ontario, CA—The Agua Caliente Clippers used a 37-point third quarter and 42 percent shooting from the three-point line to beat the Iowa Wolves at home on Saturday night, 117-105.

With the win, the Clippers complete their inaugural season with a 23-27 overall record.

Trailing by as many as 22 in the second quarter and 13 at the half, the Clippers used eight straight points from C.J. Williams to spark a 23-8 run in the third quarter and took the lead for the first time in the game with 1:21 left to play in the frame. The Wolves responded with a quick run of their own to pull ahead by three heading into the final quarter.

The two teams traded baskets in the opening minutes of the fourth, until Williams hit from deep twice to put the Clippers up by five, which was followed by a three from LaDontae Henton minutes later. Iowa pulled within six, but that would be the closest they would come, as the Clippers connected at a 54 percent clip from deep in the quarter.

“I told them that this one was up to them,” coach Casey Hill said. “I said, ‘It’s our last game of the year, you have 24 minutes left in the season. How you end this season is up to you.’ They decided they wanted to win.”

Williams led the comeback with 36 points, 30 of which came in the second half. DeAndre Daniels, Tyler Roberson and Dakarai Allen each had 10 points. Allen grabbed a team-best 10 rebounds and Roberson and Daniels grabbed 9 and 7 boards, respectively. Ike Iroegbu added 23 points, providing a spark off the bench, while Henton added 8 points and 8 rebounds. Skylar Spencer finished with 12 points.

“I think everything that happened this year was a sign that this [team] needed to be here,” Hill said. “Everything felt very natural and like it was supposed to be happening. This group of players, when we were down to seven guys, it was tough to win those games but they fought.

“They continued to squeeze the good out of the opportunities, which speaks to their character.”

With the win, the Clippers end their season on a three-game winning streak. Fans can stay up-to-date on team news by following the team on Twitter (@ACClippers) or by visiting the team website,
