SALT LAKE CITY, UT—The Agua Caliente Clippers fell to the Salt Lake City Stars 104-103 on the road Friday night, thanks to a last-second three-pointer from Stars forward Erik McCree. With the loss, the Clippers slip to 13-11 on the season.

The Clippers jumped out to an early 7-0 lead and didn’t allow the Stars a field goal until eight minutes through the first quarter, while holding the home team to 15-percent shooting from deep and 26-percent from the field. Marshall Plumlee gave the Stars trouble around the rim, picking up two offensive rebounds and scoring six straight points in the opening quarter of play to give the Clippers a 25-13 lead. The Stars threatened briefly in the second quarter, pulling within six points, but Plumlee dunked out of a Clippers timeout to spark a 14-4 Clippers run and extend the lead to 15 before half time.

The second half looked much different, as the Stars cut the Clippers lead to just four going into the final quarter. The Clippers looked poised to pull away in the fourth, leading by as many as seven points, but Salt Lake City tied it up with 21 seconds to play, thanks to back-to-back three-pointers. J.J. O’Brien was fouled and hit two free throws to give the Clippers a one-point lead, but Erik McCree hit a three-pointer with just under two second left to play, giving the Stars their only lead of the night, but it proved to be good enough for the win.

O’Brien led all scorers with 32 points, a new season-high. Plumlee had a season-high 16 points to go with 12 rebounds, seven of which came on the offensive end. LaDontae Henton added 19 points, including a 4-for-8 effort from deep, while Ike Iroegbu contributed 14 points. Brice Johnson had a big night on the boards, recording a career-high 15.

The Clippers continue their road trip Sunday, as they take on the Sioux Falls Skyforce and look to even the season series in a 3 p.m. PST tip. The last time the two teams met up, the Skyforce beat the Clippers 117-112.
