Ontario, CA—The Agua Caliente Clippers snapped a three-game losing streak on Tuesday night at home, beating the Santa Cruz Warriors, 104-89, picking up their first win of the season against the Warriors.

The Clippers came out hot, going on a 15-4 run in the opening minutes of the game, causing the Warriors to call for an early timeout. Santa Cruz went on a run of their own that put them up by three heading into the second quarter, but the Clippers responded. Ike Iroegbu went for eight points in the second quarter to provide a spark for the home team, giving them a five-point lead at the break.

The Clippers pushed the pace in the third quarter, leading by as many as eight points. The Warriors threatened, but Tyler Roberson beat the buzzer with a dunk to give the Clippers an 11-point lead heading into the final quarter. Santa Cruz pulled within six in the fourth before Dakarai Allen hit a shot from deep to prevent a Warriors run. With just over three minutes to play, Allen hit again from beyond the arc to extend the Clippers lead to 12 and minutes later, LaDontae Henton hit back-to-back threes to put the Warriors away.

All five Clippers starters scored in double-figures, with LaDontae Henton leading the way with 24 points and nine rebounds. Iroegbu finished with 17 points, seven rebounds and five assists, while DeAndre Daniels recorded a career-high 17 and 10 rebounds to record a double-double. Dakarai Allen added 17 points, seven rebounds and eight assists and Tyler Roberson had 14 points. Newly-acquired center Skylar Spencer neared a double-double, adding eight points and grabbing 11 boards off the bench.

“Basketball is a game of teams going on runs,” said Henton. “We knew the Warriors were going to come out hard and we just needed to sustain what we were doing well and we were able to do that. At the end, we made a push.”

The Clippers head to Utah to take on the Salt Lake City Stars on March 3rd, with tip-off scheduled for 6 p.m. (PST).
