EVENT RECAP: AC CLIPPERS HOST SPORTS CAREER PANEL AT SCHOOL DAY GAME

ONTARIO, Calif. – The Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario, an NBA G League Affiliate of the Los Angeles Clippers, hosted their annual “Sports Career Education Panel – Chalk Talk” on Tuesday, February 11, at the Toyota Arena, prior to their School Day Game, presented by Thinkwise Credit Union. The event, aimed at uniting students across the Inland Empire, offered approximately 1500 young scholars a firsthand glimpse of the multiple career avenues in professional sports.
The 30-minute chalk talk, moderated by Clippers emcee Nick Ferrara, featured a panel of team executives, offering their unique perspectives and experiences in the sports industry. Led by the Agua Caliente Clippers, Team President Justin Kemp, LA Clippers Senior Accountant Ramon Malta, and Agua Caliente Clippers Account Executive Narbeh Pezeshkian, the panel presented the students with an exclusive look at the inner workings of a professional sports organization and offered their words of wisdom. To conclude the workshop, the young learners were given time to pick the brains of the professionals during a Q&A session.
“You’ve got to love what you do and you’ve got to be passionate about whatever it is that you’re doing,” said Kemp. “Whatever your strength is, if you’re an artist and you like being creative, there’s a place for you in sports. If you’re the person that talks a little bit too much in class, guess what, there’s a place for you in sports. If you like math and you like numbers, I guarantee there’s a place for you in sports.”
Over 40 schools attended the Chalk Talk and School Day Game combined, including schools from Upland, Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga, Pomona, Montclair, Redlands, Rowland Heights, San Dimas, Hesperia, Lucerne Valley, and Fullerton. The event drew a season-high attendance of 3584 for the afternoon matchup between the Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario and the Memphis Hustle. Students were provided educational booklets, promotional event pens, and in-game entertainment.
